After an intense December at work Kayci and I planned a few days at one of our favorite destinations outside of the San Francisco to mellow out before our big trip. L'Auberge Carmel has possibly the most hospitable staffs we have ever experienced and anyone working in hospitality would do well to look at them as an example. On the first night of our stay we dined at Aubergine, the restaurant that resides within the boutique hotel. This restaurant has perfected the art of providing equal parts shock, surprise, fun, and warmth. Their staff is a tightly knit group that obviously hopes to and succeeds in making sustenance something more than just food. We have eaten here on a number of occasions and every time it we have left with a big smile on our faces and a warm feeling in our chests.
