This week I will set an intention of respect for my body and my nourishment by taking the following steps:
This week I will be present in the meals I prepare, or in the meals I receive from others. I will consciously acknowledge the ingredients and their origins, whether plant or animal and I will be thankful for their sacrifice. Remembering that everything was something before it came to be food for you is crucial to acknowledging the importance of food to your life.
This week I will focus my attention on the rituals involved with eating, whether in the preparation or in consumption. I will concentrate on the textures, flavors and smells my foods contain and delight in the array of sensory stimulations that food has to offer. Food isn't something to just be endured, rather it's a sensual escapade meant to excite very nerve in my body, whether a silky mango, or crisp apple, think of all of the sensations offered to you when you bite into a juicy vine ripened strawberry!
This week I will take time to step outside for any meal or snack that I can to look at the beauty of nature while I eat, even if just for a moment. Appreciating the beauty of a flower nearby or a park across the street will help me to remain present in my moment. Natures beauty is necessary for me to thrive, and seeing green spaces will relax and open my mind to the enjoyment I deserve.
