Getting back to our personal paradise, I like to imagine a lack of love and positivity as huge bramble bushes that have overgrown this special place within us. These massive thorny vines have grown over the walls of your park and are blocking your beautiful flowers and plants from receiving the nourishing sunlight they need to survive. When you try to explore your beautiful place, huge thorns pierce you and draw blood, discouraging you from wanting to return.
"Your task this week is to take time to sit quietly and look inside your garden."
Now I'm going to ramp up the cheesiness factor when I tell you how to begin clearing the weeds and bramble out, but what you need is love. By bringing more love into your garden, you will have no choice but to be able to start clearing out the old beliefs that are no longer serving you.
Everyone and everything in your life up until this point has been training you, and it's time to trade out the bad teachers. From your parents when you were young, to your past lovers to anyone that ever did you harm in any way. It's time to choose a new way to be, in the way that suits you. Did you get bullied about something when you were younger? Good, it made you stronger. Did your parents tell you you would never amount to anything? Use it as a ladder to climb higher. If you take everything hurtful that someone has said to you and realize that what they said has absolutely nothing to do with you and everything to do with them, then you will find freedom.
Your task this week is to take time to sit quietly and look inside your garden. What are you holding onto? It's time to start your weeding, start small with the beliefs that are easier to manage, the biggest bramble should be tackled last once you have lots of practice with the smaller ones.
When I was ready to begin my own weeding, I made the decision to avoid the news and avoid looking into mirrors. My own brambles were based on negative self talk, feelings of unworthiness, and the idea that the world was an evil place.
But by actually Immersing myself in the world and not believing what was on the news, I was surrounded by wonderful people, beauty and creativity. I realized that the news rarely talks about what good is in the world, something that desperately needs to change. As for the mirrors, I've always struggled with changing beliefs that I was imperfect and that I would never amount to anything, so I decided that I needed to just be in my body focusing less on my outward appearance and letting go of insecurities..
I can't tell you what you should do, but if you listen to the little voice that has been struggling to talk to you, you will find out. By listening to your intuition and following what it has to say, you will strengthen your ability to believe in yourself. The first step is as always just trying, the goal is not perfection, but at least trying. What have you got to lose?
Happy Friday, Have a dazzling weekend.
