Sitting in Croatia, tucked under a lovely veranda, there is thick pollen floating through the air and Italian love songs drift from the CD player inside. A small mixed stand of oak and locust trees is swaying to the music in the slight breeze as insects hum and songbirds add their hopeful notes to the symphony. Pondering what I should focus on this week, nothing really felt so important as just existing in the moment.
Whenever you can this week, sit with your eyes closed and listen to the ambient sounds around you. Soak in the hum of the city, the peace of the countryside, or whatever it is that surrounds you. Feel how your body shifts and moves as you inhale and exhale, breathing in the aromas of wherever it is that you are. Take at least ten breaths of stillness before you decide whether or not you are ready to open your eyes again.
When you do open them, be still, don't immediately start moving. Just take in everything you had observed before and relax. There is a peace to be found in just seeing life passing by while you sit and enjoy the solitude of a moment spent still in the bustle of life.
I love you, just as you are, and always will. Be love and share love. Forget everything else the world has taught you, and choose to stop spreading fear.
